first proper weekend since a while ;) made corn fritters with bacon/avocado/sour cream/sweet chilli for breakfast, and watched life of pi and the amazing spider man.

there's gonna be a stop-motion animation Pinnochio movie directed by Guillermo Del Toro and voiced by actors including Daniel Radcliffe & Ron Perlman (Hellboy!)!! too bad it's planned for a 2014 release... click here for the imdb page.
Tilda Swinton makes strange films. like that bioterrorism trial documentary, Strange Culture.
p.s. relating to nature v's nurture, this article from national geographic from earlier this year is interesting (on animal domestication): Taming the Wild and if you want to see more media things on psychopaths, here's a documentary that was aired on abc last year: I, Psychopath (makes you wonder about the various people you've met in life..whether you want to or not) - synopsis from the abc website - watch online
disclaimer: i am not obsessed with these disturbing topics! i was just taken by reading the article last night and reminded me of the other two links. you know.. after-midnight-thinking-modes stay with you for longer...
watched Paul@st george open air cinema yesterday (once again, i got the tickets from the smh newspaper subscription! originally it was for love & other drugs, but i received the tickets one day late, so i was sent another one). the film was good and fun, but i think it needed more jerk-funny moments. it was a surprise seeing jason bateman and jane lynch in it!
the screen rising! (cheesy inspirational drum-y music playing in the background)

guess wat. today i got another free thing from the newspaper subscription! it's the INCEPTION DVD!! weeeee and also, i went to allan's music just to check out their 20% off sheet music, and turned out that there was one more copy of washington's album!! when i went last week, they sold out already, and the person said they'll probably restock after the new year. so happy :) and the arrangement sounds exactly like the songs :D
can't stop listening to songs from the princess and the frog. the storyline is pretty standard, but disney songs are so great, as always! gonna get the piano book next week when i'm back at uni (and out of the house) x)
also, found a new website -society6- where you can buy illustrators' works on t-shirts, hoodies, ipod/laptop skins, canvas:
friday sep 24 5.30pm free screening of the red shoes at the opera house
from sept 25 the future is wild exhibition at sydney aquarium (and i still haven't seen the dugongs!)
should i go? maybe i will! uni can't make life that boring -assessment-wise. (oh btw, i was handling a wallaby in a hessian sack last week, and when i opened its pouch, there was a joey!! i thought at first its teat was really long... but then turned out it was the joey's foot!)
so here's the promised pic:
that boomerang shape thing is its hindleg , and the thing with claws on the right is its arm! (when we opened the pouch wider it was like moving its fingers and going "nooooooo *twitch fingers*") its eyes were still closed too! it really doesn't do the cuteness/amazement-causing justice as in real life. it was quite hard getting a good pic, since we didn't want to open the pouch too wide, seeing as it's still hairless and all - and we learnt that joey's are basically fused to the teats when they are newly born... and not sure when that stopped happening. anyway... you can see the black dots where the whiskers will be!! yea it does look kinda scary here. but the real thing was so cuutttteee!! made me smile in a cheek-hurting kinda way XD

oh nooooo i think i can hear a scott pilgrim-sounding soundtrack coming from my brother's room!!! i don't want any spoilerssss!!!!!! shall confront.
just watched step up 2 on tv lol and can't help but remember japan's ichigeki group ("crew"? :\) from the planet b-boymovie
i feel like this clip is too cool to be on this blog. cool people probably don't use words like 'cool'.. anyway, how クール (hehe) is the concept: records on a turntable!
watched toy story 3 today, and as always, pixar's made another funny, but also 'emotionally affecting' (i can not articulate without sounding gross.. gomen) movie. DEFINITELY not just 'another sequel' . ほんとう に すてき x)
went to see the olafur eliasson's "take your time" exhibition at the mca
(though the permanent displays were too 'contemporary' for me... made me go ...mm.ok.) every piece of work is just so cool and different! i won't say anything because the surprise/excitement of seeing the different displays is too wonderful :) -SERIOUSLY don't try to look for information/images on the internet -like i did, trying to find pictures for this post- cos then you'll spoil it for yourself!
postcards from a bookshop at the rocks:
bird cages in an alley - with bird chirps playing from somewhere: (looks like they're floating! hogwarts-y...)
watched how to train your dragon in 3D at eastgardens, and whoa it's such a good 3D movie.
probably it's because the glasses were so clear and didn't fall off my nose, but it was like when i watched monsters v's alien at imax level of clarity! the story was really good too (there needs to be another word created for 'good'), it's more of a normal type -not a 'hyper' dreamworks movie like kung fu panda or cloudy with a chance of meatballs -though i really liked the story of that. i am bad at descriptions. if it's not clear so far. so to express my fondness for it, i'll say that it's one of my favourite dreamworks or pixar movie (but nothing can beat finding nemo). the funny characters, the cute dragons, that special helmet lol, and the scene where astrid is touching the clouds is so great too... if only..
anyway, can't wait till easter break in two weeks!
